Weekend College offers a non-traditional approach to courses by offering them in a hybrid format.  For each course, students attend just 6 face-to-face meetings at WLAC and spend about 4-5 hours online per week.  In 2 years or less, students can work to complete their IGETC certification, general education requirements, or earn a Certificate of Completion in Business or Management.

Part-time students who may be working full-time, high school students who want to get ahead, or anyone who needs an alternative to the traditional 16-week class can work toward completing a two-year degree or IGETC certification in record time.

What is new on the Weekends at West?

• West Los Angeles College is expanding into the weekends to better serve students, introducing new course offerings for the weekend that feature a new and convenient scheduling format combining classroom and online instruction.  Because enrollment has grown, Sunday classes have been added.  Look for the Weekend College Faculty Advisor Online at West Los Angeles College Weekend College website, http://weekend.wlac.edu. 

What is the Weekend College?

• Weekend College courses are scheduled on a six-week basis and are intensive in nature.  They are designed for highly motivated, well-prepared students who need an alternative to traditional semester-length classes, and who are looking for good, high quality, rigorous instruction with ample opportunity to meet, and learn from, their professors in person. Weekend College courses meet the same high standards as courses that are scheduled during the traditional semester.  Courses that are marked UC/CSU are fully transferable to University of California and California State University campuses. 
• There are 6 sessions per year with usually a two-week break between each session.  Students can enroll in and attend a Friday course, a Saturday course, or Sunday course each with an online requirement.  Full-time students can enroll in Friday, Saturday, or Sunday courses.  Well prepared full-time Weekend College students can complete 36 units of transfer requirements in one year just by attending Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays.
