Course Description: Prerequisite: Mathematics 112 with a satisfactory grade or equivalent. This course is for those who have no algebra or whose preparation in algebra is deficient. Topics include variables, polynomials, equations, factoring, system of linear equations, graphs, inequalities and quadratic equations.
Course Requirements: The material to be covered this semester will include material from Chapters 3 to 11 of the text. 1. Study the respective assigned chapters from the textbook before coming to class. 2. There will be 8 exams, 100pts. Each. Count the seven highest scores, 700 points. Exams can be done on the computer using EDUSPACE, you will submit them electronically. Student needs to make arraignments with the instructor prior to the exam 3. There are no make up exams for any reason 4. There will be 1 Final exam, 200pts. 6. In addition, to the exams, there will be weekly homework assignments (homework can be done on the computer using Eduspace, you will submit them electronically) 10 points each. Refer to the page handout on homework for these assignments, approximately 120pts. 7. Class participation is expected every class section.
Grading Criteria: Your final grade will be a letter grade based on the following percentages: A 90-100% B 79-89% C 68-78% D 56-67% F 55% and less REMINDER: NO MAKE UP EXAMS. Drop your lowest test score. Extra Help. There is tutoring available in B3-100 and HLRC. Attendance: Punctual attendance of every class meeting is essential to achieve progress in this course. If you have a special problem, please discuss it with your instructor. You arrive on time and leave when the class is dismissed. Side conversations distract other students and the teacher and will not be tolerated. You are expected to behave in an adult manner, including courtesy to the teacher and fellow students. You are expected to listen and participate in class. Social and personal conversations are disruptive to fellow students. You will need a code for EDUSPACE. If you purchase a new text it will be included. This code is good for 12 months. If you have a class using EDUSPACE all you need to do is to change instructor and text. You should have a code by the second week of class. In order to register for this EDUSPACE course students need both: class code: ARRIO-C0111B2BEAF398 and the passkey from your EDUSPACE Getting Started Guide for Students. Mathematics 115 Course Schedule Homework
The homework assignments consist of the odd-numbered problems in each section, with exceptions noted. Homework assignments are due at the beginning of the class on Mondays. You need to show all work to get full credit. I DO NOT ACCEPT LATE HOMEWORKS. Homework assignments done on EDUSPACE need to be completed and submitted on the computer on EDUSPACE site. I DO NOT ACCEPT LATE EDUSPACE HOMEWORK. Only one form of homework will be accepted each week, either on paper or electrically on EDUSPACE.
